Advice and Guidance

There are several types of insulation available for a variety of uses. You can rely on the insulation experts at Miller Insulation for advice and guidance about which form would be best for your particular needs. Need more information? Contact us to schedule a free estimate.

Fibreglass insulation comes in the form of pre-cut batts or rolls, or as loose fill. The batts or blankets are often installed in two layers for maximum effectiveness, while loose fill is applied with a blower. The loose fill is similar to the wet-spray cellulose form (see below), in which water is added to form an adhesive.

Cellulose insulation is one of the oldest forms of insulation. There are a variety of types, including loose-fill (which can be blown into the walls) and wet-spray (which has water added to help it adhere). It has a high amount of recycled content, which makes it popular with those who are interested in green building.

Rockwool insulation is a material that is literally made from rocks and minerals. Rockwool insulation is commonly used in building construction, industrial plants and in automotive applications. It is an excellent medium for use in blocking sound and heat.

Spray foam insulation is an alternative to more traditional insulation. It’s sprayed into the walls, attic or basement, and it expands and conforms, creating an air-tight seal. It usually insulates better than traditional insulation, saving on energy costs, and its rigidity strengthens the building. It also slows moisture infiltration, making the building less susceptible to mould or mildew.
